Event Overview – The UAE is by far the UK’s largest food and drink export market in the Middle East and North Africa with export sales of over £80 million for the first six months of 2012, an increase of over 37% on the previous year. This is the largest percentage export growth amongst the UK’s top 20 export markets.

The increase in UK exports can be attributed to a number of factors including the country’s growing population and its profile as one of the regions most popular tourist destination. Additional food and drink exports can also be attributed to the estimated 120,000 British nationals now resident in the UAE. Opportunities have been identified for all food and drink categories although there are limitations on alcohol due to government controls and cultural reasons.

Gulfood is the key international food and drink trade event in the Middle East attracting over 68,000 domestic and international trade visitors to the 2012 event. Visitors include retail store buyers, public sector buyers, airline buyers, restaurateurs and hoteliers, and importers and distributors.
