ANUGA

Event Overview –  The European Union is by far the largest market for UK food and drink exports with exports of £5,963 million in the first half of 2012. This represents a share of over 76% compared to 24% for non-EU markets. As such Europe remains the largest opportunity for food and drink producers which can be attributed to a number of factors including ease of market access and trade agreements. In addition with similar food preferences to the UK, opportunities have been identified for all food and drink product categories.

Anuga is a biennial event, alternating every other year with its sister show Sial, Paris, and is the largest Global food exhibition. The last outing in 2011 attracted over 155,000 visitors from 180 countries. It is proposed to have a Welsh presence in the International, dairy and drink sectors halls as recent experience has shown that, due to the sheer scale of the event, often category buyer’s focus on their specific category hall and as such trade opportunities can be missed.
